We've just come back from a week in Whitby and it is very dog friendly, many shops and cafes etc have water bowls outside and many more let dogs in. We went to the Black horse pub, Becketts cafe and the Endeavour pub. He was also welcomed into St Mary's Church (top of the 199 Steps) and took part in Harry Collett's ghost walk! He growled just as Harry told his 1st ghostly tale - was very amusing and made the other participants jump !

Beaches are unrestricted until 1st May but they are allowed on the East side beach at all times. Nice walk round the coastal path to Saltwick bay, our dog loved it and we had it all to ourselves. Also try the Cinder path (old disused railway). We made it to Robin Hoods Bay but you can walk all the way Scarboro (21 miles though !) Visit the Tourist info office they have lots of leaflets and books with walks.
